InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is a vibrant campus ministry that establishes and advances witnessing communities of students and faculty. With over 1,000 chapters, InterVarsity is working to reach into every corner of every campus. Each chapter ministers to students and faculty through small group Bible studies, large group gatherings, leadership training, thoughtful discipleship, and life-changing mission trips.

The Next Generation Campaign was launched with a $36 million goal to fund the following key strategic growth initiatives:
Plant 150 new nationally-funded and regional chapters.
Establish a Campus Engagement Department
Launch Athletes InterVarsity & InterVarsity Arts Ministry

PARTNERING FOR SUCCESS

The FOCUS Group completed a full-scale feasibility study for InterVarsity in March of 2012. Our work included the development of a Case for support, donor research, and several dozen structured interviews with key leaders and supporters of the ministry. Following the study, we reported to leadership the key themes that emerged, as well as a list of specific recommendations for launching and leading a successful capital campaign.

Following the feasibility study, The FOCUS Group led InterVarsity through final Case development, leadership training, prospect strategy and logistical planning spanning the entire campaign. The approach was tailored to InterVarsity’s unique mission and donor base, utilizing The FOCUS Group’s proprietary campaign management software, Windshield2020® and ultimately reached a successful conclusion. The campaign actually raised over $50 million, exceeding the original goal by nearly 40%.

IMPACT

As a result of the Next Generation Campaign, Intervarsity was able to:

  • Plant 155 new chapters
  • Establish a Campus Engagement Department that has reached over 10,000 campus affairs professionals
  • Launch Athletes InterVarsity – now with over 2,370 college athletes participating
  • Launch InterVarsity Arts Ministry – now with over 1,670 artists participating
