MomCo (formerly known as MOPS) encourages and equips moms of young children to realize their potential as mothers, women and leaders, in relationship with Jesus and in partnership with the local church.
MomCo (short for Mom Community) was an organization with a 50-year history poised for exciting growth, but lacking confidence and expertise to tackle its daunting fundraising challenges.
“I reluctantly stepped into fundraising. I didn’t like the idea of asking for money, and I didn’t think I’d ever enjoy that part of my work. But now, three years later, fundraising is one of the most sacred parts of my job because I recognize it is holy. It is one of the biggest blessings of the work that I get to do.”
MomCo partnered with The FOCUS Group (TFG) to conduct a feasibility study and then launch a capital campaign. The feasibility study demonstrated a willingness from key financial partners to give more than they had expected. This instilled a newfound confidence in MomCo’s leadership.
As part of a campaign initiative, TFG also trained new staff on their TDSⓇ fundraising framework. This increased their capacity as a development team and allowed the organization to implement the principles of relational fundraising into its team’s ongoing work.

Thanks to its generous partners and a lot of hard work, the Rising Together Campaign raised $6 million to allow MomCo to reach more moms with the message of Jesus. Perhaps even more significant for the organization’s long-term health is that the relational approach to fundraising the MomCo team learned throughout the capital campaign has led to stronger donor relationships and an overall increased desire to give.
And this seems to be just the beginning of MomCo’s growth. Looking to the future, it is charting a bold path by seeking new ways to reach moms—especially in digital spaces. In the coming year, with the funds from the Rising Together Campaign, MomCo plans to:
