Howard Freeman

Director of Research and Senior Consultant

Howard Freeman, Director of Research and Senior Consultant, is a career fundraiser enjoying his 31st year of field experience across both the nonprofit and private sectors. Through his work with The FOCUS Group, he is deeply committed to helping faith-driven organizations create the kind of world the Creator envisioned in the beginning.

He has led development teams and capital campaigns at organizations including Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Redeemer Presbyterian Church (NYC), and Young Life. In 2021, he co-founded the venture-backed climate technology company Team Wildfire, and in 2025 founded the angel investor-backed AI research tool, Rōmy. Howard has worked with The FOCUS Group in various capacities since 2000 and is honored to once again join the team.

Howard holds a bachelor’s degree in English from North Carolina State University and completed graduate studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Though a native New Yorker, Howard is now more likely to point to having married a native Texan, Karen, 29 years ago. Together they have three grown sons, two granddaughters, and a chocolate Lab named Leo. They live in Kerrville, Texas.
