Research Analyst

A Research Analyst for The FOCUS Group is primarily responsible for conducting both high-level and in-depth research on prospective donors for clients by compiling, analyzing and organizing data from multiple sources:

  • Using online database services, Internet websites, library and government sources and other external repositories of public information, find and interpret data to help discover information pertaining to prospective donors for our clients.

  • Prepare reportsĀ in the appropriate format for delivery to clients and/or incorporated into project-related reports.

  • From time to time, explain research results and reports directly to clients.

This is a full-time, salaried position.

  • Ability to prioritize, manage deliver multiple concurrent assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to travel to staff retreats and occasionally for client meetings.
  • Proficiency with common word processing and spreadsheet tools is required.
  • Experience using WealthEngine, iWave, ResearchPoint tools is highly desired
  • Experience with foundation research and grant proposals is a plus.


  • Reports and other deliverables reflect a very high degree of accuracy, thoroughness and completeness.
  • Reports and other deliverables are well-written and formatted, free of typographical, grammatical and mathematical errors.
  • Ensure a high degree of accuracy and professionalism in the work delivered to TFG consultants and clients.
  • All research projects are produced efficiently and on time to meet internal project and client deadlines.
  • Clear, timely, honest and professional communication with TFG colleagues and TFG clients, regarding project status, timelines, and interpreting reports.
  • Produce reports on production queue and completed projects.
